This year’s official World Press Freedom Day celebrations were held in Windhoek, Namibia to acknowledge the fact that the Windhoek Declaration of 1991 was instrumental in the day becoming a UN International Day.

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted in 1948 states that: “Everyone has a right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right include freedom of opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
With this in mind, we chose to highlight that efforts need to be made so that people with disabilities are included with “everyone”, as called for by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and in the spirit of leaving no-one behind which anchors the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. Please share and let us know your thoughts.
