fesmedia Africa attends ILO ITC's Digital Inclusion Summit

fesmedia Africa recently “attended” an online Digital Inclusion Summit, hosted by the ILO ITC, primarily because Access to Information increasingly means Access to the Internet, especially during the pandemic we are facing globally.

The purpose of the summit was to raise awareness about the necessary digital resources, identify the demands, recognise the challenges, and develop the necessary partnerships in coordination with the government, civil society, businesses, and academia to ensure that we don’t LEAVE ANYONE BEHIND.

“There is no "one size fits all" in terms of inclusive training solutions, so knowledge from our institutions about the needs and experiences of users is key. The Summit also left us with the notion that the challenge now is to go beyond inclusion in terms of access and ownership. We have the opportunity to strengthen transversal competencies for critical, responsible and safe use, to empower people as digital citizens, through quality online training experiences in our institutions.” Sofia Doccetti, participant from Instituto Nacional de Empleo y Formación Profesional in Uraguay.
